Christian-Extreme Athlete to Speak to Youth

January 14, 2011

I’m always looking for ways to show my kids that you can be “cool” and still be a faithful Christian…

Christian extreme-athlete Ronnie Faisst, one of the world’s most accomplished freestyle motocross riders and one of the stars from the Nuclear Cowboyz Freestyle ChaosSM tour, will visit MOR Youth, the Senior High Ministry at Gateway North Richland Hills, Texas, on Wednesday, January 19, 7:00PM.   The event will take place at the church’s North Richland Hills Campus at 7501 Davis Boulevard.

Faisst will encourage and energize teens to pursue the highest values of the human spirit through his testimonial followed by a question and answer session.  The evening also includes a meet-and-greet and autograph session with Faisst. For more information regarding the speaking engagement, please call 817/552-3719 or email youth@gatewaypeople.com.  The evening is free and open to the general public.

Faisst is a Two-Time X-Game Bronze Medalist and has competed in 12 X Games Events. Faisst recently placed third overall at the 2010 Dew Tour. He also won one silver medal and two additional bronze medals during his run in the Gravity Games. Faisst has competed in more than 60 FMX events worldwide throughout the 11 years he’s been competing.

Most importantly to Faisst is strongly being active in spreading the word on his faith and how it helps him in the freestyle motocross world.  He is a member of Revival Christian Fellowship and also supports the Extreme Church, which has an affinity toward those in Extreme-Action Sports including MX, BMX, FMX, skaters, winter sports and outdoors clubs including rock climbers, hikers, fishing, and hunting to name just a few.

In an industry that glorifies the rock star lifestyle, Faisst keeps his fame in check by remaining strong in his faith.  Faisst stands on what the word of God says and realizes God has given him a story that he can tell the world.  His faith keeps him strong in an often times dark and demeaning world.  Faisst seeks to live every aspect of his life to the fullest whether that’s his faith or on his motorcycle.

About Nuclear Cowboyz
This year marks the second year that Faisst has toured with Nuclear CowboyzSM.  The all-new Nuclear Cowboyz Freestyle Chaos?, which plays at American Airlines Center on January 22 at 7:00PM, is the legend of two powerful freestyle motocross tribes, the Soldiers of Havoc and the Metal Mulisha™, whose survival in their post-apocalyptic world is told through gravity defying and fearless freestyle motocross aerial feats. The Nuclear CowboyzSM mayhem and chaos is literally set in extreme non-stop motion when the tribes are challenged by a dark underworld that begins the ultimate battle for world supremacy. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 800/745-3000.

In addition to Faisst, the 2011 Nuclear Cowboyz Freestyle Chaos? tour has the greatest cast of freestyle motocross riders ever assembled, including Adam Jones, Mike Mason, Taka Higashino, Beau Bamburg, Derek Garland, Nixey Danielson, Jim McNeil, Brody Wilson, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Dustin Miller and Jeff Kargola. In addition to these world renowned freestyle motocross riders, trials riders Geoff Aaron and Keith Whineland, along with quad riders Derek Guetter and Colten Moore, take their apocalyptic power to the massive ramps, conveying the action-packed narrative through choreographed, synchronized awe-inspiring tricks and the Nuclear Cowgirlz? dancers. Taj: The Spiritual Giant

    January 9, 2011

Taj is our little guy who seems to be extra sensitive to spiritual matters. He gives loooong, meaningful prayers. He loves to answer questions at church with detailed explanations. He loves telling scripture stories and does well relating them to his life. He’s just a really special boy. On Saturday we had an activity at the church. They had the 7 year olds who are turning 8 this year meet in a room so they could talk to them more about baptism. One of the teachers was passing out booklets about baptism. On the front of the booklet there was a picture of a birthday cake. The teacher made a comment something along the lines of, “Everybody loves birthday cake! It’s the best gift ever!” Now, I wasn’t in the room because Livie was having a meltdown, but when I returned a mom told me that Taj raised his hand and said,

“Um, actually, the best gift ever was Jesus Christ.”

I was proud, impressed and POSITIVE he gets that  from his dad. 🙂

    2 Commercials I love

    December 30, 2010

I’m not sure why I decided to do this post. I guess because I’m not feeling very well, lying in bed, and laughing at commercials. These 2 commercials can make me laugh EVERY.TIME.I.SEE.THEM.

    #1

Ok, what crackhead thought of this? “Hey! I have an idea!!! Let’s have gangsta hamsters drivin’ the new Kia Soul…” I ❤ the dancing chick-hamsters in the background (:39 and :47.) And why are the hamsters that aren’t cool driving a toaster and a washing machine? Anyway… I love it. Maybe I’m the crackhead.

    #2

“Wee wee WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” I can no longer do the old school “This Little Piggy” on Taj and Livie’s little toes.

    What’s your fave commercial?

    Getting ready for Christmas

    December 23, 2010

It’s been kind of crazy, hectic around here. Although today I’ve just been lying in my bed, watching “I Shouldn’t Be Alive.” I’m not even wearin’ a bra. 🙂

I think I’m done with all the shopping. The 3 oldest are at the ex’s house but will be home on the 26th. Sei has the 25th and 26th off so I am excited for that!! I miss my kiddos… 😦 And Taj and Liv pretty much drive me to drinking… a lot of Diet DP. If I was a drinker I’d be a total lush after spending 24/7 with them

Taj, Liv and I have been hanging out at home, shopping and doing whatever we can to entertain ourselves. That would translate in to: A LOT of Webkinz playing. We also made Gingerbread people:

    Taj's gingerbread peep

    Taj's gingerbread peep

    Livie's

    Livie's

    Our Family

    Our Family

Liv said Tristan was “the fat one.” Sorry Tristan. lol

We also went to watch our high school play for state in Cowboy stadium. We lost 24-21, but it was a great, great game. Tristan is on JV, so he’s been working out with the varsity as they moved up further and further. So, I like to say that Tristan got them to state. 😀

    Warming up...

    Warming up...

    Go GHS!!

    Go GHS!!

That’s about all that’s been going on around here that I can think of off the top of my head. I was thinking about my blog and how I used to love, love, love to write each day. I’d used to live my life thru “blogger eyes” meaning everything I saw was either “blog worthy” or not. I’m not like that anymore and I’m sad because I know there have been things that have happened that I didn’t blog and will forget. I am so thankful for the 2-3 years I was a strong blogger so I can look back and be reminded of awesome past events, like this one. (clickety!!) It’s rad.

    Some goods…

    December 17, 2010

Today I received a Christmas card from none other than… NKOTB. Yes, Danny, Donnie, Jon, Jordan and Joe love me. 😉 It’s appropriate they sent me this since I am getting concert tickets from my man for their NKOTB + Backstreet Boys tour (NKOTBSB). I am takin’ a road trip (Holla Stacy and Nancy!) to Houston to see them since, once again, they are coming to Dallas on a Sunday. I don’t do concerts (or much of anything else) on Sunday. Every time I have seen them I have traveled to do so because they have come here on a Sunday (Oklahoma City and Kansas City– shout out Sara!!). So, yeah… I’m famous.

    We are tight like that...

    We are tight like that...

Isabel did a powerpoint presentation for a class about herself. One the part about “THE PEOPLE I ADMIRE” she wrote:

The people I admire the most are my parents! They do EVERYTHING for me. They are the best. My parents have 5 and sometimes 7 kids. The reason I said 5 to 7 is because my 2 step sisters live in Canada, and they visit sometimes. My parents treat us all equally they love us all equally! Even though we can be a handful sometimes, but they can handle us! They are the people I admire most.

Awwwwww!!! And she had pics of me and her and her and Sei. 🙂

The other part I loved was from MY FAMILY:

My family is AMAZING!!!!!! My family has 9 people in it and that is a lot. My family from youngest to oldest and age is……. Livie or Liv is 4 almost 5, Taj is 7, Isabel aka MEEE is 11, Karlea is 12, Kelsea is 12, Alec is 14, Tristan is 15, Tori aka MOM, and then Seiuli aka DAD! My family is the best in the whole entire world! I LOVE THEM ALL!!!

It made me feel awesome. I thought it was cute she put Karlea as younger than Kelsea. They are 18 minutes apart. haha

Seiuli is nominated for the 2nd quarter in a row for OFFICER OF THE QUARTER.  In the letter the chief wrote to him these are of few of the things that supervisors and/or peers made the following comments about him:

    • “He has been an outstanding influence on our shift.”
    • “He comes to work every day with a great attitude, and his reports and investigations are accurate and detailed.”
    • “His ability to translate Spanish has proven invaluable.”
    • “He also has made tremendous impact on our DWI enforcement. Again he will either take the lead on these investigations or assist in providing translation.”
    • “He has a true passion for his job, and is a leader among our people.”

There was more, but you get the jist… He is awesome. I am proud of him. And I sleep with him. Just sayin’…

    This was a first…

    December 12, 2010

I’ve been a mom now for about 15 1/2 years and last nite was definitely a first… I was sleeping– DEEP. I had taken a melatonin and everytime I do that I sleep really hard and have vivid dreams. In the middle of the nite I was dreaming that there was a glittery-looking person talking to me next to my bed. I laid there and listened and was thinking, “This talking is making me tired. Finish already!!” when I realized the glittery-person was saying, “Mom. Mom?” It was Alec. What the heck? I didn’t realize he was REAL. I totally thought he was my dream.

Anyway, he’s standing there holding his sheets and saying something like, “It’s all over me and I don’t know how it happened...” I totally thought he wet the bed. lol  I was wrong. His back, arm, ears, side of his face, and chest were covered in something dark. And in the dark it looked like blood, but it smelt like chocolate. Yes, my sweet 14 year old was covered in chocolate at 3 in the morning. Apparently Tristan had found a bowl of See’s candy sitting in their bathroom (I know- gross.) He thought Alec was snackin’ while he was on the toilet so he thought it was funny and sat the bowl of chocolate next to Alec’s sleeping head… and the rest is history. Alec must have knocked it over and rolled over on the chocolate which melted all over him. He even still had chocolate in his ear at church today. lol It was pretty freakin’ funny, but kind of disturbing that he came in my room and had a conversation with me and I didn’t even know I was awake...

    Holiday safety tips

    December 5, 2010

The holidays are such an awesome time. I love the feeling in the air. But sometimes we get so busy we aren’t aware of hidden dangers. Experts from the California Poison Control System have passed on these 12 holiday tips to help keep the Christmas season safe.

1 — Don’t let babies chew on foil wrapping paper. It may contain lead.
2 — Holiday gifts can have flat, coin-shaped batteries. If swallowed, these can cause serious burns, choking and lead exposure. Keep all batteries away from babies, kids and pets!
3 — If using snow spray indoors be sure to open windows. Solvents in the spray cans may cause nausea, lightheadedness and headache.
4 — Poinsettias won’t kill you. Ingestion may cause mild stomach upset, but aren’t fatal.
5 — Pine needles can get stuck in the throat and cause choking in small children & pets. Keep swept up.
6 — Carbon monoxide: open chimney flues, never use stove or BBQ for indoor heat & keep outdoor generators away from windows.
7 — Holly & mistletoe berries can cause nausea, vomiting & diarrhea if eaten. Pyracantha berries are safer substitute.
8 — Lead can still be found in new and used children’s products, like toys, backpacks, lunchboxes & jewelry. Find out about product recalls & tested products at healthystuff.org
9 — Have the poison control number programmed into all phones. Call anytime, 24/7 for expert advice or questions. We’re here to help.
10 – Holiday visits from grandparents? Purses/bags attract curious kids. Be sure any medicines are put out of the reach of kids.
11 — Washing hands, counters & cutting boards with hot water & soap and washing fruits & helps prevent food poisoning.
12 — For more free weekly safety tips to cell phones, text the word TIPS or PUNTOS for Spanish to 69866.
